Sweden Happy Hour – October 11th
We are proud to, once again, co-promote FILTER Magazine’s fourth annual Culture Collide Festival that will return to Los Angeles this October 10-12, bringing 3 days of incredible music, art, film and more to Echo Park. As one of the most buzzed about festivals of the fall season, Culture Collide will welcome performances by some of our favorite international artists listed here. ”Sweden Happy Hour” is a popular feature during the event where fresh Swedish music is presented. Niki & The Dove, Icona Pop and Laleh are examples of previous Swedish performers during the festival and this year Sweden is represented by The Deer Tracks, Like Swimming and Frida Sundemo. They will perform during “Sweden Happy Hour” on Friday October 11th and they also have their own slots during the festival, so check out the schedule.
What: Sweden Happy Hour When: Friday October 11th at 4pm – 6pm. Where: Taix on 1911 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90026. See map here Price: $30 for a 3-day wristband. Tickets: Avilable for purchase at Ticketfly
The Deer Tracks‘s songs often stride fearlessly into the forest primeval armed with a stuttering beat and a rattling arsenal of percussion. Somehow they blend them all together with other natural found sounds and deliberately lo-fi digital artefacts that add bristles and grit to their relentless melodies.
The music by Like Swimming is made out of acoustic indie pop with an electronic touch, always with the sweetest melodies and rhythms and with a slice of Swedish accent on every word.
Frida Sundemois creating undefinable pearls of pop. Easy to receive, hard to forget, wrapped with love.

TEKO – A Swedish Fashion Delegation Visiting LA
During Sunday to Tuesday the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles hosted a delegation from the biggest employee- and industry organization for textile- and fashion companies in Sweden – TEKO. The days were filled with interesting company visits, meetings and seminars with focus on the textile and fashion industry in the U.S. The delegation was a first time and unique collaboration between SACC-USA, SACC-LA and SACC-San Francisco. After the meetings in Los Angeles the delegation travelled along Highway 1 to continue the agenda in San Francisco.
The program in Los Angeles aimed to give an overview and understanding of the American and Californian market space with trends and predictions in the textile- and fashion industry, as well as insights on sustainable value chains and the future of textile production and manufacturing.
TEKO met with: California Fashion Association, Sustainable Fashion LA, speaker Taryn Hipwell, Patagonia and learned more about 3D printing from Julia Koerner.
Julia Koerner is a successful architect and member of the UCLA faculty. Julia has recently done a big project involving a 3D-printed dress, which she presented for TEKO. See examples of 3D-printed dresses below. “Additive manufacturing technology is mainly used in Medicine and Car Industry but has become more and more of an interest to the design world,” says Julia Koerner and continues “Especially in textile and fashion design it addresses cutting edge design possibilities and emergent techniques of manufacturing clothes.”

Swedish Beldina performing in West Hollywood
Beldina is one promising young vocalist from Stockholm currently based in LA. With her “pop angel pipes”, as MTV Iggy best describes it, “she’s been deemed one to watch”. Everyone attending the second day at The Swedish Affär in June this year remember Beldina’s magical performance at the Rockstar Mansion.
This week Beldina performed at Don’t Tell Mama’s “Tempo Tuesday” in West Hollywood. With her warm, strong soprano and charming persona she owned the stage and captured the audience from the very first note.

“If the music makes you want to dance – then dance” was Beldinas encouragement to the audience when she entered the stage. When she sang her theme song “What Can I Say” many people in the audience followed her advice as it was almost impossible not to.
