A Word from the President

Hej Alla,
As 2014 Berlinale and EFM are finishing up this weekend, please take a look below at all the films and fabulous talent in attendance from Sweden.  Also, please make sure to save the date for our Scandinavian Oscar Party 2014.

And as today is Valentine’s day, in Sweden; Alla Hjärtans Dag (“All Hearts’ Day”) I am thinking of how lovely it would be to continue celebrate and express love, not just today, but everyday.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Gudrun Giddings
President of SACC-LA

Markus Manninen
The animation genius behind the international successes Kung Fu Panda and The Croods

Markus Manninen on Dreamworks’ campus

Markus started working at Dreamworks in 2003 and he has already been part of creating the Oscar winning sensation Kung Fu Panda and The Croods, which is nominated for best animated feature film at the Academy Awards next month.  His title, Visual Effects Supervisor, means that he is responsible for pushing the production process forward.  During some periods of time he’s in charge of a group of over 300 people which sets high demands on his leadership abilities.

“The fact that I’m Swedish gives me a great advantage as I’m able to integrate Swedish corporate culture into our group.  Even if there are hierarchies in Swedish businesses you are usually able to work without feeling the weight of your superiors on your shoulders.  Every person in the room gets heard and we make decisions together.  This is incredibly important in a creative process”, Markus points out.

March 8th

Inspired by the campaign Spring140131 and the Swedish National Day of Running February 1st the SACC-LA crew has decided to participate in the LA Big 5K, which is the official warm up race for the ASICS LA Marathon. You are all very welcome to join our 3.1 mile journey through the rolling hills of scenic Elysian Park.

The plan is simple; we all meet up before the race and do a warm up session with the professional “Friskis&Svettis” trainer Carina Guter, directly imported from Stockholm, Sweden.  After the race we celebrate our achievement with a small potluck picnic close to Dodger Stadium.

BungyPump Training Poles – Unique and patented training poles with built-in suspension.  BungyPump is a Swedish invention that has become a praised and recognized fitness equipment by everyday user to personal trainers to physiotherapists and all the way up to elite athletes.

Each pole has 8 inches of built-in suspension and up to 8.8 lbs or 13.2 lbs resistance (depending on model).  Thanks to the suspension system the training poles give the user a very soft and gentle way of activating and training the upper body, but also an efficient full body workout due to the constant resistance when pressing down the poles.  Testing has proven that when using the BungyPump training poles calorie consumption is increased with up to 77% compared to regular walking.  This is one of the reasons behind BungyPump being featured in the Swedish edition of Biggest Loser for three years in a row.

Please take a look at our new BungyPump Training Video to easier understand the product:

BungyPump is a training pole that gives the user a Multifunctional way of training.  Not only can the training poles be used in various walking and running techniques, but for many different exercises as well.

BungyPump was launched in the U.S. in 2013, with it’s office and base in Los Angeles.  Prime Trade, Incorporated is the official representative and distributor of BungyPump training poles, and is actively looking for resellers, partnerships and distributors.
